YAMAHA FZ-S FIRST DRIVE

Hello everyone here i am back again with sheer bike riding experience but this time a good new for all Yamaha lovers…..on the bike named YAMAHA FZ-S.

Starting with…one of my cousins got it delivered in Bangalore a couple of weeks before it was all two toned colour BLACK WITH  GREEN mix.. just looking marvellous!!! i kept on staring at the mighty look of the bike for a while..mmy hands were luring to drive it.

LOOKS:-

The bike looks astonishingly superb…a complete renessiance in the 150cc segment. At first glance anyone will make out it to a dirt bike but i was quite spontaneous in correcting it to  naked sports bike.
A muscular tank, aggressive looking headlamps, wider rear, robust suspension add up to its beauty.

ERGONOMICS:-

The bike has been designed for daily commuting purpose. The riding position is quite upright and comfortable. The tank is quite wide for providing a better grip and easy maneuvers in traffic. The handle bars a far apart from each other to give your shoulders some more amount of relaxation.

PERFORMANCE:-

Coming to the part for which you have been waiting so long……

The first drive of the machine did all the magic upon me as soon as i turned on the ignition..The feel of the engine is quite relaxed and the sound is very soothing…but as soon as you leave the clutch the bike\’s rear tyre starts revolving as if an angry bull is shown the red flag…….!

The gear capacity is quite larger and in first shift only bike went upto 20kmph and 35-39 in 2nd shift knowing the fact that the bike was run only 150kms on the odometer which clearly justifies the 14nm torque. This also clears that this bike is particularly ment for city rides where you dont need to change the gears much. On 3rd shift the bike was easily touching 60kmph figure which was quite impressive.

Braking is of the most concern of all these sports bikes…and again it didnt dissappointed me the front disc brake is very good but rear disc brake were marking itz absence. Since the bike was not even serviced for the first time i kept myself limited to 55kmph only.

The bike is quite stable and would love to do sharp curves around the road.

For daily commuters this bike is very much comfortable in terms of handling, rider\’s position and the rear grab rail for pillion rider is also good. For passionate rider the bike can manage to go close to 115kmph if accelerated to the most again 14bhp of power is quite handsome regarding this figure.

FUEL EFFECIENCY:-

This is the prime concern in these days……….seeing the rise in petrol price the figure which i got is not at all impressive for 150cc bike……..before first servicing i got lumpsum 32-35kmpl..surely this is going to increase after first service but again will be quite less in comparision to other options available in market.

The overall feel of the bike is quite good except a few cons like low ground clearance, side stand is too high. Otherwise if you are able to manage these things then this will the best bike for you.

Yes indeed you can modify Fz-s into a dirt bike. But care needs to be taken on some points like its low ground clearance which really troubles. Other than this you can go on for modifying it with new tyres , mud gaurds adjustment of suspensions etc with ease.
